I am from Bilbao, in the Spanish Basque Country. I came to this country in 1991 for a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, in the heart of New York City... and I decided to stay for a Ph.D. My research interests lied in the area of management for multimedia networks. While a PhD candidate, I was a summer intern at Bellcore, NJ, in 93 and 94 working with the TINA core team on MO (Managed Object) behavior specification, connection management and service architectures.

Prior to coming to USA I worked for Telefonica Espana from 87 to 91 in the management of an SNA/X.25 data network. Simultaneously I was an associated lecturer at the School of Telecommunications Engineering in Bilbao (Spain). In 91, I was awarded a full scholarship for her doctoral degree studies from Banco de Espana. At Columbia, under the advisory of Prof. Aurel Lazar, I was a member of the COMET group since 1992.

After I finished my studies at Columbia I moved to the Silicon Valley and worked in AT&T Labs San Jose on the design of a QoS Framework for the AT&T IP Backbone, under the supervision of Nelu Mihai. In September 2000 I started as a Senior Analyst at RHK (www.rhk.com) in the Core Switching and Routing area, under the supervision of Muayyad Al-Chalabi.
