ABOUT THE CUBAnet PROJECT

The CUBAnet project is developing new architecture, algorithms and technologies for the construction utility function based adaptive networks. CUBAnet technology will serves as a control and management platform for mobile, access and core networks, supporting utility-based adaptive services and algorithms that can deliver service differentiation in a scalable and efficient manner.

CUBAnet employs bandwidth utility functions to model the operating range of adaptive applications. The project will investigate a number of research issues associated with deploying utility functions in communication networks for resource management. Research issues include:

  1. formal definition of utility functions;
  2. online generation of utility functions;
  3. investigation of utility-based resource management algorithms;
  4. study of utility aggregation and pricing schemes; and
  5. development of an efficient and scalable implementation of the framework
  6. .
