MetroSense Project
In the MetroSense Project project we are investigating an
opportunistic sensor networking paradigm to provide sensing
coverage over a large area. By leveraging the uncontrolled mobility of
people and vehicles, we can provide coverage in time over a wide area
with a relatively sparse deployment of sensors. We have designed the
MetroSense Architecture to symbiotically utilize existing networking
infrastructure, exploit resource asymmetry, and focus on localized
interaction to contain the complexity inherent in a mobile network. To
evaluate MetroSense we are building a large-scale campus-area sensor
network at Dartmouth College and ultimately across parts of Hanover,
NH and New York City, NY with the goal of enabling people-centric
applications based on secure, scalable sensing and fusion.
